The area is best known for skiing and hiking. Dorset, the other small town is famous for the farmers market every Sunday from 10 AM to 2 PM which moves indoors to JK Adams in the winter. Its also known for the antique stores, inns and professional summer theater at Dorset Playhouse. Poultney, is known for its Wednesday main street market and for the original Vermont country store. Lake George, offers the largest mix of attractions, restaurants, shops and nightlife. Lake St. Catherine (right in Wells) and Bomoseen Lake (in Castleton) offers spectacular view encompassing canoe and kayak rentals. Drive to Shelburne Museum, Calvin Coolidge's home in Plymouth, grandma Moses Museum in Bennington. Visit to Fort Ticonderoga and tour of Ben & Jerry's factory in Waterbury are the options available all the time.
